Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Care Home Cook to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing nutritious, balanced, and appealing meals for residents, ensuring dietary requirements are met with the highest standards of food safety and hygiene. This role offers an opportunity to make a positive impact on the well-being of our residents through quality meal preparation and service.

Duties

Prepare and cook daily meals in accordance with dietary plans and nutritional guidelines
Plan menus that cater to residents' specific dietary needs and preferences
Ensure all food is prepared safely, maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen
Manage stock levels, order supplies, and ensure proper storage of ingredients
Serve meals to residents in a courteous and professional manner
Maintain accurate records of food temperatures, cleaning schedules, and dietary compliance
Collaborate with care staff to coordinate meal timings and special dietary requirements
Follow all food safety regulations and company policies to prevent contamination or foodborne illnesses

Requirements

Proven experience in food preparation and cooking, preferably within a care home or similar setting
Strong knowledge of food safety standards and hygiene practices
Experience with meal preparation tailored to special dietary needs (e.g., diabetic, low-sodium diets)
Previous kitchen or restaurant experience is desirable but not essential if willing to learn
Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining attention to detail
Good organisational skills with the ability to manage stock and plan menus effectively
A friendly, professional attitude with excellent communication skills
Basic serving skills and a customer-focused approach

Pay: Up to £13.45 per hour
