About The Role

Role: Environmental Health Manager

Location: Chorley

Contract: Full time (36.25 hours per week) / Permanent

Salary: £51,356 - £52,413 (plus 6% car allowance)

Are you a driven and experienced Environmental Health professional ready to lead a high-performing team? We’re looking for an Environmental Health Manager to play a key leadership role in delivering vital public protection services and improving environmental standards across our communities.

This is an exciting opportunity to shape service delivery, influence strategy, and make a real difference to public health, housing, and environmental quality.

What you’ll be getting up to

Leading and supporting the Environmental Health team to deliver a high-quality, customer-focused service
Overseeing a wide-ranging service covering housing, public health, food safety, environmental protection and community safety
Managing day-to-day operations, ensuring workloads are prioritised and performance targets are met
Making informed decisions on enforcement action and overseeing complex investigations and legal cases
Providing expert advice on planning, licensing and environmental impacts
Driving service improvements and delivering projects aligned to corporate priorities
Managing budgets, resources and external contractors to ensure value for money
Working closely with partners to safeguard vulnerable residents and support wider community outcomes
Who we’re looking for
A qualified Environmental Health professional with strong technical knowledge
Proven leadership experience with the ability to motivate and develop a team
Confident in managing enforcement activity and complex casework
A strong communicator with sound judgement and a proactive, solutions-focused approach
Committed to delivering high standards and making a positive impact in local communities
