Standish, Wigan Full-Time / Part-Time Positions Available Competitive hourly rate (dependent on experience)

About Milepost Coffee

Milepost Coffee is a new independent coffee shop opening in Standish, focused on serving exceptional speciality coffee, premium pastries, and a carefully curated brunch menu in a calm and welcoming environment.

Inspired by Scandinavian design and a passion for quality, our aim is to create a coffee shop that becomes a valued part of the local community.

We are looking for friendly, hardworking, and passionate individuals to join us from launch and help create something special.

The Role

As a Barista at Milepost Coffee, you will be responsible for preparing high-quality coffee, delivering excellent customer service, and helping maintain a clean and organised café.

Whether you are an experienced barista or someone with a genuine interest in coffee and hospitality, full training can be provided for the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities

Coffee Preparation

Prepare espresso-based drinks to a consistently high standard
Dial in grinders and monitor coffee quality throughout the day
Steam milk and develop latte art skills
Maintain and clean coffee equipment

Customer Service

Welcome customers warmly and create a friendly atmosphere
Take orders accurately using the POS system
Handle cash and card payments
Build relationships with regular customers

Daily Operations

Opening and closing duties
Restocking supplies and monitoring stock levels
Cleaning front-of-house and back-of-house areas
Supporting teammates during busy periods

What We’re Looking For

Essential

Positive attitude and strong work ethic
Friendly and approachable personality
Excellent customer service skills
Ability to work efficiently under pressure
Attention to detail
Reliable and punctual
Genuine enthusiasm for coffee and hospitality

Preferred (But Not Essential)

Previous barista or café experience
Knowledge of speciality coffee

Training and Development

Full training can be provided for candidates with the right attitude and willingness to learn. This is a fantastic opportunity to develop specialist coffee skills and grow with a new independent business from the very beginning.
