Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Commis to join our culinary team. The successful candidate will assist in food preparation, support kitchen operations, and contribute to maintaining high standards of food safety and quality. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about culinary arts and hospitality to develop their skills within a dynamic environment. Prior experience in food production or restaurant settings is preferred, and leadership qualities are a plus. The position is paid and suitable for those eager to grow within the hospitality industry.

Duties

Assist in preparing ingredients and dishes according to established recipes and standards
Support senior chefs in cooking, plating, and presentation of meals
Maintain cleanliness and organisation of workstations in compliance with food safety regulations
Monitor stock levels and communicate needs for replenishment
Support with supervising junior team members where applicable
Ensure all food preparation areas adhere to health and safety standards
Assist in training new staff members on kitchen procedures and safety protocols
Contribute to a collaborative team environment by supporting colleagues during busy periods

Skills

Experience in food production, cooking, or kitchen operations
Strong understanding of food safety standards and hygiene practices
Proven leadership or supervisory experience within a culinary or hospitality setting
Ability to manage time efficiently during busy service periods
Excellent team management skills with the ability to motivate colleagues
Knowledge of food preparation techniques and culinary practices
Experience in restaurant or hospitality environments is highly desirable
Good communication skills, with the ability to serve customers professionally when required
Organised, reliable, and able to work effectively under pressure
