Job Purpose:
· To assist the directors and senior staff in the preparation of technical material in support of the Practice’s portfolio of planning casework and development projects.
Key areas of Responsibility:
Technical support
- Receive and understand detailed drawing briefs from senior staff.
- Assisting with the preparation of planning application forms and associated documents (training will be provided)
- Preparation of 2D CAD drawings for planning applications and appeal documentation, to assist delivering the planning case workload
- Use of web-based portals to acquire/download and upload digital drawing and document files
- Preparation of material for client submissions including printing, collating and binding submissions
- Maintenance and development of office drawing and document handling protocols and standard drawing/document formats
- Coordination of consultant reports
- Providing details of work undertaken for fee invoices
- Research of site details including measured and photographic site and building surveys
- Assisting in tracking and obtaining reports from 3rd party consultants
General office duties
- Assisting in maintaining records including job filing and electronic records
- Assisting in answering telephone calls and taking messages when administrative staff are unavailable.
- Assist the general running and administration of the practice by carrying out administrative and support tasks as requested by the directors and senior staff.
Qualifications:
Essential
- GCSE Maths and English grade C or above or equivalent
Desirable:
- A levels or equivalent in relevant subjects
- HNC or degree in a relevant subject
Experience/Expertise:
Essential
- Good presentation skills
- Experience of preparing architectural layout and general arrangement plans and drawings.
Desirable:
- Experience of planning or construction
- Freehand drawing skills
- Understanding of the planning system
- Experience making planning applications
Required Knowledge:
Essential:
- Demonstrate an aptitude for AutoCAD and/or ArchiCAD packages
- Competency in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace Apps
Desirable
- Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite
- Building technology
- Experience of ArchiCAD (appropriate training will be supported)

Additional details:
The post is full time and is based at the offices in Upton Magna, Shrewsbury. There may be some out of hours working with time off in lieu, which will be mutually agreed in advance.
Working hours are 9:00am to 5:30pm Monday to Friday.
