SAIT Abrasives (UK) Ltd (manufacturers of abrasive products used to grind, cut and finish materials) is seeking an Inventory Manager who will join their close-knit team to carry out a wide variety of tasks relating to products and stock.
The company is seeking an experienced and driven Inventory Manager to lead its UK warehouse and stock activities. The role will focus on delivering effective stock management, utilising SAP Business One, and delivering product analytics to inform business planning, as well as leading a small team of Warehouse Operatives.
This is a full-time role based in a well-equipped office at Meridian Business Park (close to M1 junction 21/Fosse Park) and would be suited to someone who aspires to work within a globally successful company whilst benefitting from the supportive, collaborative culture and flexibility of a smaller business. The ideal candidate will be able to combine attention to detail with strong analytical and management skills.

An overview of your Role as Inventory Manager
Job Purpose:
The purpose of this role is to lead warehouse, inventory, and logistics operations to ensure efficient stock management and operational performance. The role supports business growth through maintaining stock information on SAP Business One, effective inventory control, forecasting, and data-driven decision-making, while working closely with Marketing to ensure accurate product information and stock availability and to support product launches and campaigns.
Key Responsibilities:
Inventory and Database Management
- Manage inventory systems and maintain accurate product, supplier, and stock records using SAP Business One.
- Raise and manage purchase orders to ensure timely stock replenishment and agreed inventory levels.
- Establish and maintain product pricing structures in line with company strategy, market conditions, and margin requirements.
Stock Management
- Oversee stock receiving, storage, picking, packing, and dispatch activities to maintain operational efficiency.
- Manage transport planning and logistics operations to support timely inbound and outbound deliveries.
- Maintain optimal inventory levels through regular stock counts, cycle counts, and annual stocktaking processes.
- Monitor stock rotation and inventory accuracy, investigating discrepancies and implementing corrective actions as required.
- Identify and implement opportunities to optimise stock holdings, improve inventory accuracy, and reduce operational costs.
- Develop and maintain supplier relationships, negotiating pricing, lead times, and service levels where appropriate.
- Coordinate new product introductions, ensuring accurate product data, stock availability, and operational capability.
Warehouse Team Management
- Lead and manage warehouse and inventory operations to ensure efficient stock control and product availability.
- Supervise, train, and develop the warehouse team, ensuring compliance with company procedures and health & safety standards.
- Develop, monitor, and report on KPIs relating to stock accuracy, stock availability, inventory value, and warehouse performance.
- Ensure safe working practices within the warehouse.
Analysis and Reporting
- Forecast inventory requirements based on sales trends, seasonal demand, and business objectives.
- Analyse product performance, stock turnover, inventory trends, and sales data to support commercial decision-making.
- Liaise with the Marketing Manager to provide product knowledge, specifications, market insights, and support for product launches, promotions, and customer communications.
- Contribute to business planning by providing product and inventory insights to support growth and profitability objectives.
Package and Benefits:
1. Circa £40,000 – £45,000 per annum (depending on experience)
2. Early finish on a Friday (Monday to Thursday: 8:15am – 4:30pm; Friday: 8:15am – 3:15pm)

Essential skills / knowledge:
1. Previous experience with SAP Business One
2. Inventory control / warehouse operations experience, ideally within the industrial sector
3. Good levels of numeracy and experience with analytics
