Full job description

ROLE PURPOSE

The Project Manager is responsible for the successful commercial and operational delivery of projects from initial enquiry through to final account and invoicing.

The role exists to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget and in line with agreed customer expectations whilst maximising profitability and minimising risk to the business.

Project Managers are expected to take full ownership of their projects, maintaining strong client relationships whilst ensuring robust commercial controls, accurate forecasting, effective change management and timely project close-out.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Manage projects from enquiry through to completion and final account.
Develop and maintain detailed project programmes and delivery plans.
Coordinate internal departments including Design, Procurement, Production, Installation and Maintenance.
Ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget and to the required quality standards.
Proactively identify and mitigate project risks.
Escalate issues promptly where delivery, cost, quality or customer satisfaction may be impacted.

COMMERCIAL MANAGEMENT

Take ownership of project profitability throughout the project lifecycle.
Ensure purchase orders, approvals and commercial authority are in place before works commence.
Monitor project costs against estimate and take corrective action where required.
Manage variations, scope changes and additional works to maximise revenue recovery.
Ensure all chargeable works are accurately quoted, instructed and invoiced.
Review project margins and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
Maintain accurate financial forecasts for projects under management.

CUSTOMER MANAGEMENT

Build and maintain professional relationships with clients and key stakeholders.
Act as the primary point of contact throughout project delivery.
Manage customer expectations through clear and proactive communication.
Identify opportunities to develop existing accounts and generate additional revenue.

OPERATIONAL EXCELLENCE

Ensure project information is complete, accurate and available to all stakeholders.
Conduct project handovers, progress reviews and project close-out activities.
Support continuous improvement of systems, processes and working practices.
Promote a culture of accountability, collaboration and customer service.

KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS

Gross margin performance.
Revenue delivery.
Variation recovery.
Project profitability.
On-time project delivery.
Invoice timeliness.
Customer satisfaction.
Project forecasting accuracy.
Compliance with company procedures and commercial controls.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

Essential

Proven experience managing projects within the signage, construction, fit-out or related sectors.
Strong commercial awareness and financial understanding.
Ability to interpret drawings and specifications.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Strong planning and organisational abilities.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and project management systems.
Full UK Driving Licence.

Desirable

CSCS Card.
Knowledge of manufacturing and installation processes.
Experience managing national rollout programmes.
Understanding of contractual documentation, purchase order controls and change management procedures.
