Full job description

The Nuffield Department of Women's & Reproductive Health (NDWRH) is seeking a Trial Administrative Assistant/ Data Coordinator to join the National Perinatal Epidemiology Unit (NPEU) Clinical Trials Unit, supporting the delivery of high-quality clinical research that aims to improve the health of women, mothers and babies both nationally and internationally.

Working closely with Trial Managers, the Head of Operations, Senior Trials Managers and Trial Programmers, the post holder will provide administrative and data management support across a portfolio of clinical trials. The role is central to ensuring the smooth running of studies by maintaining high standards of data integrity, supporting efficient trial administration and contributing to the continuous development of robust administrative and data management processes.

The successful candidate will support a wide range of trial activities, including organising meetings, taking minutes, managing trial documentation, responding to participant and site queries, maintaining trial databases, supporting participant follow-up and assisting with trial promotion and recruitment activities. They will also contribute to quality assurance processes, data validation, audit activities and ensure compliance with Good Clinical Practice (GCP), GDPR and Data Protection legislation.

Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, the post holder will develop effective working relationships with investigators, recruiting sites and colleagues across the Clinical Trials Unit to support the successful delivery of multiple clinical research studies. The role also offers opportunities to contribute to the development of improved administrative systems and processes that enhance the efficiency and quality of trial delivery.

Applicants should have experience of managing administrative processes together with experience of data entry and working with large databases. Strong organisational skills, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to prioritise competing workloads while meeting deadlines are essential. Candidates should also possess excellent IT skills, including experience using Microsoft Office applications and relational databases or similar systems, together with an understanding of confidentiality, GDPR and good data management principles.

Experience of working within clinical trials, healthcare research or using REDCap is desirable but not essential.

The post is offered on a full-time basis (part-time considered) and is fixed term until 30 June 2027 in the first instance. Applications for flexible working arrangements are welcomed and will be considered in line with business needs.
