You’ll join OCU’s delivery team leading site operations across electrical infrastructure projects throughout Scotland’s Central Belt. Working on active construction sites, you’ll play a critical role in ensuring works are delivered safely, compliantly and to a consistently high standard, supporting infrastructure that powers homes, businesses and communities.
This is an opportunity to take a leadership position on-site within a growing organisation, where you’ll influence safety culture, manage high-risk activities and contribute to the successful delivery of essential energy and utilities projects.
You’ll lead all on-site health, safety and compliance activities, acting as the Principal Contractor’s representative and ensuring all works are carried out in line with CDM 2015, company procedures and industry best practice. You’ll coordinate contractors, supervise site activities and ensure safe systems of work are implemented and maintained at all times.
You’ll take ownership of developing and implementing RAMS, ensuring all personnel are properly briefed and works are planned and executed safely. Through regular site inspections, audits and engagement with teams, you’ll identify risks, implement corrective actions and maintain a controlled and compliant working environment.
You’ll manage permit-to-work systems, controlling high-risk operations including electrical works, excavations and confined spaces, while promoting a strong safety-first culture across all teams. You’ll deliver inductions, toolbox talks and ongoing communication to reinforce expectations and drive positive behaviours on site.
Where required, you’ll undertake Authorised Person duties, including safe isolation, issuing permits and ensuring electrical systems are controlled safely. You’ll also support incident investigations, ensuring root causes are identified and lessons learned are implemented effectively.
Working closely with clients, designers and stakeholders, you’ll ensure health and safety is embedded across all project activities, maintaining accurate documentation and ensuring full compliance with all relevant legislation and standards.
Essential:
- Proven experience in a Site Manager or supervisory role within construction or utilities environments
- Strong knowledge of CDM 2015 regulations and UK health and safety legislation
- Experience developing and implementing RAMS and safe systems of work
- Ability to manage permit-to-work systems and oversee high-risk site activities
- Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to influence safe behaviours
- Experience carrying out site inspections, audits and incident investigations
- Relevant qualification in construction, engineering or health and safety (e.g. NEBOSH, IOSH or equivalent) or demonstrable industry experience
Desirable:
- Authorised Person (AP) experience or qualification, including safe isolation procedures
- Experience working within a DNO or ICP environment
- Background in electrical infrastructure or utilities projects
- Experience managing multi-contractor sites
