3D Cake Artist – Sculpted Cakes & Luxury Fondant Specialist

We are looking for an exceptional 3D Cake Artist with advanced fondant and sculpting skills to join our growing team in Stockport.

This is a specialist commercial role focused on premium celebration cakes, luxury finishes, and structurally engineered 3D builds for both retail and corporate clients.

We are not hiring a general baker or beginner decorator. We are looking for a highly skilled cake artist with proven professional experience producing flawless sculpted cakes under commercial deadlines.

If you understand high-end finishing, precision detailing, cake structure, and UK bakery standards — we want to see your work.

What You’ll Be Responsible For3D Cake Design & Sculpting

Design and create complex sculpted cakes from concept through to completion
Build realistic 3D cakes including characters, objects, themed structures, and large-scale celebration pieces
Carve with precision to achieve clean proportions, smooth finishes, and realistic detail
Engineer stable internal structures using dowels, boards, supports, and armatures
Ensure all cakes are structurally secure for transport and delivery

Luxury Fondant & Decorative Work

Achieve flawless fondant coverage with sharp edges and seamless finishes
Create high-detail figurines, toppers, textures, and decorative elements
Work confidently with fondant, gum paste, modelling chocolate, ganache, edible paints, and luxury finishing materials
Produce advanced decorative work including:
Airbrushing
Hand-painting
Edible printing
Texture detailing
Sugar flowers
Metallic finishes
Match colours accurately to client briefs and corporate brand guidelines

Assembly, Finishing & Quality Control

Stack, assemble, and finish cakes to premium showroom standard
Maintain exceptional attention to detail with no cracking, bulging, uneven finishes, or untidy joins
Carry out final quality checks for:
Stability
Symmetry
Colour accuracy
Clean finishing
Brand presentation
Ensure every cake is photo-ready, client-ready, and delivery-ready

Client & Corporate Projects

Translate client ideas, sketches, and inspiration into workable 3D cake designs
Advise on structure, sizing, feasibility, and design solutions while protecting the creative vision
Produce high-end corporate cakes featuring branded elements, logos, and custom detailing
Collaborate with the wider team to deliver projects efficiently without compromising quality

Hygiene & Professional Standards

Follow UK food hygiene, allergen, and cross-contamination procedures at all times
Maintain clean, organised workstations and correctly labelled materials
Work efficiently within a fast-paced commercial production environment

What We’re Looking ForEssential

2–5+ years of professional experience as a cake artist, fondant specialist, or 3D cake decorator
Previous experience in a commercial bakery, cake studio, or luxury cake business
Strong portfolio showcasing:
Sculpted cakes
3D builds
Fondant figures
Sharp-edge finishing
Luxury cake work
Excellent cake engineering and stacking knowledge
Advanced skills in fondant finishing and edible modelling
Ability to deliver consistently high standards under pressure and tight deadlines
Strong artistic eye for proportion, colour, detail, and modern UK cake trends
Solid understanding of UK food safety standards

Preferred

Diploma or professional training in Cake Decoration, Sugarcraft, Baking.
Experience producing luxury wedding cakes or corporate cakes
Advanced skills in edible printing, sugar flowers, hand-painting, or airbrushing
Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate
