Look no further! We have a fantastic opportunity for an Officer - Payroll to join the Xentrall Shared Services team at Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council. Xentrall is a successful shared service partnership between Stockton-on-Tees and Darlington Borough Councils.
The Xentrall HR team includes Payroll, Pensions, Recruitment, Improvement and Systems Support. We deliver payroll services to a wide range of customers, ensuring employees are paid accurately and on time while meeting all statutory and regulatory requirements.
In this role, you will support the delivery of a high-quality and efficient payroll service. This includes ensuring timely and accurate payments to employees and external organisations such as HMRC, processing absence-related payments, and maintaining accurate employee records.
Key responsibilities include:
- Assisting in delivering end-to-end payroll operations, ensuring compliance with legislation and deadlines.
- Processing contractual changes and statutory returns.
- Working collaboratively with colleagues, partners and stakeholders to meet customer needs.
- Contributing to service improvements and development initiatives.
- Maintaining high standards of performance, data quality and customer satisfaction.
We are looking for someone who:
- Has payroll experience or is working towards (or willing to work towards) a relevant CIPP qualification.
- Demonstrates strong organisational, communication and problem-solving skills.
- Is confident using Microsoft Office and payroll systems.
- Has a strong customer focus and works effectively as part of a team.
- Is motivated, adaptable and committed to continuous improvement.
Appointments will be made within Grade F-H, depending on skills, qualifications and experience.
- Grade F - Suitable for candidates with limited or no payroll experience or relevant qualifications. Full training will be provided, including support to undertake a relevant CIPP qualification.
- Grade H - Suitable for experienced payroll professionals who hold a relevant qualification, such as CIPP.
