Job Overview
We are seeking a reliable and proactive Warehouse Assistant to join our team. The successful candidate will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our warehouse, handling materials efficiently, and supporting various logistical functions. This position offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with warehouse experience or mechanical knowledge to develop their skills within a dynamic environment. The role involves physical tasks such as heavy lifting and requires familiarity with warehouse management systems and equipment like forklifts. All duties are paid, including internship positions.

Responsibilities

Assist with stock organisation, stocking shelves, and maintaining inventory accuracy using warehouse management systems such as AS400
Operate forklifts and other material handling equipment safely and efficiently
Load and unload goods from lorries, ensuring proper handling and storage of materials
Pick and pack orders accurately for shipping and receiving purposes
Support shipping & receiving activities, including documentation and tracking of shipments
Perform basic mechanical tasks related to warehouse equipment maintenance
Assist in construction-related tasks or setting up storage areas as needed
Ensure health and safety protocols are followed at all times during heavy lifting or manual handling tasks
Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment

Experience

Previous warehouse experience is preferred but not essential; training will be provided for the right candidate
Familiarity with forklift operation is advantageous; certification is a plus but not mandatory
Experience with warehouse management systems such as AS400 is desirable
Mechanical knowledge or background in construction can be beneficial for understanding equipment maintenance and setup
Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently over extended periods
Proven ability to work effectively within a team environment in a fast-paced setting
