Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Forklift/Plant Service Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining, repairing, and servicing a range of plant equipment, including forklifts and excavators. This role requires a strong mechanical and electrical background, with the ability to work independently and provide excellent customer service. The position offers an opportunity to utilise a diverse set of technical skills in a dynamic industrial environment.

Responsibilities

Conduct routine maintenance and inspections on forklifts, excavators, and other plant machinery to ensure optimal performance.
Perform repairs and troubleshooting on mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems using hand tools, power tools, and specialised equipment.
Fabricate parts or components as needed, including welding and soldering tasks.
Read and interpret schematics, technical drawings, and manuals to diagnose issues accurately.
Assemble new equipment or components following technical specifications.
Utilise welding, electrical experience, and mechanical knowledge to resolve complex technical problems.
Maintain detailed records of service activities, repairs, and inspections in accordance with company procedures.
Provide exceptional customer service by addressing client concerns promptly and professionally.
Assist with heavy lifting tasks safely while adhering to health and safety regulations.

Requirements

Proven experience in fabrication, welding, soldering, electrical work, or mechanical maintenance within an industrial setting.
Strong knowledge of schematics and technical drawings related to plant machinery.
Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and assembly techniques.
Experience in equipment repair for forklifts, excavators, or similar heavy machinery.
Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently.
Excellent problem-solving skills with a focus on troubleshooting complex mechanical or electrical issues.
Good organisational skills with attention to detail in record keeping.
Customer service orientation with professional communication skills.
Relevant certifications or qualifications in electrical or mechanical engineering are desirable but not essential. This role offers an engaging environment for technically skilled professionals eager to contribute their expertise in maintaining vital industrial equipment while delivering outstanding service to clients.

Pay: £26,376.34-£53,715.02 per year
