Overview

Job Title: Artisan Bread Baker

We are looking for a talented and reliable Artisan Bread Baker to join our team. This role involves producing a wide range of high quality breads, including sourdough, yeasted loaves, and specialty baked goods. The ideal candidate has experience with both traditional and modern baking techniques and thrives in a fast-paced bakery environment.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare and bake a variety of breads, including sourdough, white, wholemeal, multigrain, rye, baguettes, brioche, and specialty loaves
Mix, ferment, shape, proof, and bake doughs to consistent quality standards
Maintain and manage sourdough starters and preferments (poolish, biga, etc.)
Follow production schedules to meet daily demand
Monitor dough development, fermentation times, and baking conditions
Operate bakery equipment (mixers, ovens, proofers) safely and efficiently
Ensure all products meet quality, taste, and presentation standards
Maintain a clean and organised workspace in line with food hygiene regulations
Assist with stock control, ingredient preparation, and ordering
Support recipe development and seasonal product innovation

Requirements

Previous experience as a baker in a commercial or artisan bakery

Strong knowledge of bread-making techniques (both sourdough and yeasted doughs)

Understanding of fermentation, hydration, and ingredient functionality

Ability to work early mornings, nights, weekends, and holiday

Good time management and ability to work under pressure

Food safety/hygiene certification (preferred)
