Bishops Gate Hotel Derry is a stunning historical landmark transformed into a luxurious boutique hotel. Located in the heart of Derry, it features the acclaimed Gown Restaurant, the Northern Counties Ballroom, 31 elegant bedrooms, and four additional apartments.

Job Summary

We are seeking a motivated and energetic Kitchen Porter/Kitchen Assistant to join our vibrant hospitality team. In this vital role, you will support the kitchen operations by maintaining cleanliness, assisting with food preparation, and ensuring a smooth flow of daily kitchen activities. Your enthusiasm and dedication will help uphold our high standards of service and hospitality excellence.

Duties

Assist with basic food preparation tasks to support chefs and kitchen staff
Maintain cleanliness of all kitchen areas, including washing dishes, utensils, and cookware
Ensure all kitchen equipment is properly cleaned and stored after use
Support with stock rotation and inventory organization to ensure freshness and safety
Help with waste disposal and recycling procedures in line with health and safety standards
Follow health, safety, and hygiene regulations diligently to ensure a safe working environment

Requirements

Previous experience in a restaurant, hotel, or hospitality environment is preferred but not essential; training will be provided
Knowledge of food preparation and cooking processes is advantageous
Strong understanding of kitchen hygiene standards and safety procedures
Ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced setting
Enthusiastic attitude with a passion for hospitality and customer service
Flexibility to work various shifts including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required
