Full job description

General Estates Assistant – Full-Time

Salary: £25,000 – £29,000 per annum (depending on experience)
Location: Buckinghamshire
Hours: 40 hours per week (08:00 – 17:00)
Contract Type: Permanent
Start Date: ASAP

We are currently recruiting for a reliable and flexible General Estates Assistant to support the day-to-day maintenance, grounds, cleaning, and operational needs of a busy educational environment.

This is a varied hands-on role suited to someone practical, proactive, and capable of supporting both maintenance and grounds teams across a large site.

Key Responsibilities:

Assisting with general maintenance tasks and compliance checks
Supporting grounds maintenance including gardening, sports pitches, and outdoor areas
Preparing facilities and outdoor spaces for events and activities
Carrying out general cleaning and upkeep duties across buildings and communal areas
Supporting with opening and locking buildings, alarms, and site security procedures
Using tools, machinery, vehicles, and equipment safely following training
Assisting with porterage duties including moving furniture, equipment, and deliveries
Supporting traffic, parking, and site operations when required
Reporting maintenance issues and ensuring health & safety standards are maintained
Working flexibly to support operational requirements, including occasional evenings or weekends

Candidate Requirements:

Previous estates, caretaking, maintenance, grounds, or facilities experience preferred
Practical approach with good problem-solving skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Physically fit and comfortable carrying out manual tasks
Flexible and reliable attitude toward working hours
Good understanding of health & safety procedures
Full UK driving licence preferred
