Full job description

Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced, practical, and motivated Production Engineer/Supervisor to join our small workshop team. The team comprises of machinists, fitters, welder and general hands, around 10 in total are workshop based. This is a varied and hands-on role where no two days are the same, working across hydraulic cylinder repairs, manufactured components, and larger engineering projects for a wide range of customers.

We are looking for someone who can take ownership of the workshop floor, keep production moving efficiently, support the team, and help maintain the high standards our customers expect. The role would suit somebody with a strong engineering background who enjoys problem-solving, organising production, and being involved in projects from start to finish.

The Role

Overseeing the day-to-day running of the workshop and production activities
Managing the repair and manufacture of engineering components and hydraulic cylinders
Planning workloads and production schedules to meet customer deadlines
Supporting and supervising workshop staff
Ensuring quality, safety, and housekeeping standards are maintained
Liaising with customers and suppliers regarding ongoing work and project progress
Assisting with technical problem-solving, job planning, and continuous improvement
Managing larger engineering projects through manufacture and completion

What We’re Looking For

Previous experience in a production engineering, workshop management, or manufacturing role
Strong engineering and manufacturing background
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
Good organisational and communication skills
A practical and hands-on approach to problem-solving
Ability to manage multiple jobs and priorities in a busy workshop environment
Experience leading or supporting workshop teams
Good understanding of health & safety within an engineering environment

Desirable Experience

Hydraulic Cylinder and System knowledge
CNC machining or fabrication knowledge
Project management experience
Experience with ERP/MRP or workshop management systems

The role will require a reliable, proactive, and conscientious person and takes pride in delivering quality work.

Pay: £35,000.00-£45,000.00 per year
