Classic Car Mechanic Specialising in Classic Sports & Racing Cars

Are you a skilled mechanic with a passion for classic sports and racing cars? Do you take pride in precision engineering, problem-solving, and bringing iconic vehicles back to life?

We are a small, family-owned specialist workshop with a deep-rooted passion for classic sports and race cars. Renowned for our expertise in servicing, maintaining, repairing, and restoring some of the most celebrated marques—particularly Lotus—we are looking for an experienced Classic Car Mechanic to join our dedicated team.

The Role

This is a hands-on role for someone who appreciates craftsmanship and mechanical excellence. You will work on a varied and exciting range of classic road and race cars, carrying out everything from routine servicing to full mechanical rebuilds and restoration projects.

Key responsibilities include:

Servicing, maintenance and repairs on a wide variety of classic sports and racing cars
Diagnosing mechanical faults and carrying out effective repairs
Stripping, inspecting, refurbishing and rebuilding mechanical components including engines, gearboxes, suspension and braking systems
Assisting with restoration projects to exacting standards
Preparing and maintaining race cars
Communicating directly with customers, clearly explaining faults, repair requirements and technical solutions
Maintaining high standards of workmanship, attention to detail and workshop organisation

About You

We’re looking for someone who combines strong technical ability with genuine enthusiasm for classic vehicles.

You will ideally have:

Proven mechanical experience, ideally with classic or performance vehicles
Strong knowledge of traditional automotive systems and mechanical engineering principles
Experience stripping and rebuilding mechanical assemblies
Particular experience with Lotus vehicles would be highly advantageous
The ability to diagnose faults methodically and accurately
Excellent communication skills and confidence dealing directly with customers
A meticulous eye for detail and pride in producing high-quality work
A positive attitude and ability to work both independently and as part of a close-knit team
