Full job description

Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Lab QA/QC Coordinator to support and maintain the Quality Management System within a high-volume marine fuel testing laboratory in the UK. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring compliance with ISO 17025 requirements, maintaining analytical quality standards, and supporting laboratory accreditation activities.

Responsibilities

Coordinate and maintain the laboratory Quality Management System (QMS) in compliance with ISO/IEC 17025 requirements
Perform method validation, verification, and periodic review of analytical test methods
Conduct verification of standards, reference materials, and laboratory procedures
Prepare, review, and maintain measurement uncertainty calculations and related quality documentation
Review and validate daily analytical test results to ensure technical accuracy and compliance with quality requirements
Support internal audits, corrective actions, non-conformance investigations, and continuous improvement initiatives
Liaise with accreditation and external audit bodies including UKAS and PJLA during assessments and surveillance audits
Ensure laboratory activities comply with regulatory, accreditation, and company quality standards
Monitor quality indicators, proficiency testing performance, and laboratory documentation control
Provide quality guidance and support to laboratory personnel and assist with staff training where required

Experience

Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, or a related scientific field
Minimum 5 years of relevant laboratory QA/QC experience
Prior experience working in a high-volume commercial laboratory environment
Strong knowledge and practical experience with ISO/IEC 17025 requirements
Hands-on experience in marine fuel testing laboratory operations
Experience handling UKAS and PJLA audits and accreditation processes
Knowledge of method validation, verification, measurement uncertainty, and quality documentation
Strong analytical, organisational, and problem-solving skills
Excellent communication and documentation abilities

Preferred Skills

Familiarity with GC-MS, ICP, fuel oil analysis, or petroleum testing methods
Experience with laboratory data review and quality trend monitoring
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

Pay: From £27,000.00 per year
