Full job description

The Play Café Sunderland is looking for a friendly, reliable and hardworking person to join our team!

We are a busy family play café offering food, drinks, children’s parties, classes, events and play sessions — so no two days are quite the same!

We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic, dependable and able to work well as part of a team, while also being confident working independently when needed.

The role will include:

Serving customers and taking food and drink orders
Preparing food, drinks, coffees, milkshakes and smoothies
Serving customers in a friendly and welcoming manner
Clearing and cleaning tables
Keeping the café, kitchen and play areas clean and tidy
Washing dishes and maintaining high hygiene standards
Helping with children's parties, events and activities
Setting up and clearing away sessions and events
Helping to keep the play area safe, clean and organised
Restocking supplies
Handling payments and using the till
Following food hygiene and health & safety procedures
Working as part of a busy team to ensure the café runs smoothly

Has good attention to detail
Is willing to get stuck in and help wherever needed
Can work independently as well as part of a team
Understands the importance of cleanliness and hygiene
Is comfortable working around children and families
Is flexible with working hours, including weekends and school holidays

Previous café or hospitality experience is preferred, but attitude, reliability and willingness to learn are just as important.
