Role purpose
As a Junior Financial Controller, you will support the Finance team in monitoring financial performance across all entities, with a strong focus on the UK perimeter. You will play an active role in the month-end close and in revenue and margin recognition within a construction environment, where cut-off, progress tracking and data reliability are critical.
In addition, you will help oversee UK accounting activities and monitor key UK statutory/compliance returns such as VAT and CIS.
The role also involves continuous improvement of processes and tools, with an expectation to be AI-friendly and comfortable working with digital solutions — including active participation in the ERP implementation rollout in the UK (NetSuite).
Key responsibilities
Month-end close & performance reporting
- Support the monthly closing process: preparation, controls, reconciliations, variance analysis and follow-up
- Contribute to management reporting (KPIs, performance reviews, ad hoc analysis) for all entities, with deeper involvement on the UK scope
- Perform consistency checks and ensure accurate cut-off and supporting documentation
Revenue recognition & margin recognition (Construction)
- Participate in the construction revenue recognition process
- Support controls and analysis of gross margin: reliability checks, documentation, investigation of variances
- Work closely with operational stakeholders to validate input data (progress, costs, billing, etc.) and improve data quality
UK accounting oversight & compliance monitoring
- Support the supervision of end-to-end British accounting activities in coordination with internal/external stakeholders
- Monitor and follow up key UK compliance filings/returns, including:
- VAT returns
- CIS (Construction Industry Scheme) returns
- Ensure proper documentation, timelines tracking and data consistency for UK-related reporting obligations
Ad hoc requests & stakeholder support
- Respond to specific requests from Finance and stakeholders, such as ad hoc reporting, reconciliations, detailed analyses, and supporting documentation as required
- Contribute to the preparation of materials for internal reviews, audits, or management requests
Systems, tools & ERP implementation (NetSuite / Excel / AI-friendly)
- Use NetSuite for data extraction, analysis and control activities
- Be actively involved in the UK ERP implementation of NetSuite (deployment support, testing/UAT, process alignment, data validation, training support and post go-live controls)
- Build and maintain strong analytical files and control frameworks in Excel
- Proactively suggest improvements in templates, controls and processes to increase efficiency and reliability
- Apply an AI-friendly approach: use AI tools in a structured and responsible way to enhance analysis, reporting and control activities (critical thinking and good practices expected)
Candidate profile
- Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, including a background such as Business Engineer (Ingénieur de Gestion) or equivalent
- First experience in Finance / Audit / Controlling / Accounting (internships included)
- Strong analytical mindset, attention to detail, and willingness to learn in a multi-entity environment
- Strong interest in IT tools and process improvement
Technical skills
- Very good Excel skills (analysis, structuring, pivot tables, formulas; Power Query is a plus)
- Understanding of month-end close processes and cut-off principles
- Experience with an ERP is an asset — NetSuite experience is a strong plus
- Interest/understanding of construction revenue recognition topics (progress-based recognition, cut-off discipline, validation of operational inputs)
- Awareness or willingness to learn UK compliance basics such as VAT and CIS (monitoring, deadlines, control mindset)
