PURPOSE OF JOB: To support PAL's Falls Prevention Programme in delivering an effective community-based service, with a particular focus on the PSI and Strength and Balance Programmes. The role will primarily support participants across the Sutton Coldfield and Birmingham area.
It is important to note, this is a hybrid role, with a mix of session delivery (Health assessments, strength and balance sessions, PSI delivery) and programme co-ordination.

MAIN Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Leading the PSI (postural stability instruction) & Strength and Balance delivery within the community at various sites across the Midlands including:
a. Deliver and instruct classes for a range of Health Referral exercise Programmes always ensuring the safety and welfare of participants.
b. Manage instructors and lead on management of projects within the designated region.
c. Assisting the clients with exercises to make sure they are done correctly.
d. Demonstrating exercises under the supervision of the Falls Prevention Activity Instructor.
e. Setting up and packing up the sessions including chairs and equipment.
f. Maintaining accurate records of attendance of all sessions, including collecting monies where appropriate and recording this data in line with internal deadlines.
2. Provision of administrative support to the delivery team including:
a. Arranging initial exercise referral appointments and completing appropriate administrative tasks for each referral.
b. Maintaining efficient filing systems ensuring you follow GDPR guidelines, both paper and electronic, including the efficient organisation of documents, databases, and files.
c. Assist with collation and recording of data relating to service activity in support of project meetings, funding reports, and internal reviews.
d. Ensuring that the correct delivery & administrative processes and procedures are in place and consistently delivered across PAL’s PSI & Strength & Balance Programmers.
e. Accurately process various sources of data using a variety of programs including presentation software, database, and spreadsheets.
f. Arranging initial health assessments and presenting these to the relevant instructor.
3. Attending initial health assessments with the Exercise Instructor.
4. To work with the PAL team to support the delivery of the service’s marketing plan including gathering event materials, website updates, social media promotions, and print media where appropriate.
5. Develop new opportunities for the organisation working with the Management, enabling PAL to source funding from external partners, running identified work programmes, publicising project activities, and undertaking monitoring and evaluation activities.
6. Monitor, develop and feedback on Programme’s engagement levels, evidenced by appropriate data.
7. Create partnerships to develop our Programme delivery by working with local health and community professionals, targeting those people who do not traditionally participate in physical activities.
8. Cultivate local networks and partnerships ensuring that relationships are maintained with organisations relevant to PAL’s services. Attend local networking events and community engagement events.
9. Deal with enquires, ensuring strong standards of customer service for example:
a. Dealing with telephone enquiries, sign-posting messages and following up all enquiries appropriately.
b. Speaking with clients over the phone and supporting them with class bookings.
10. Apply and adhere to PAL policies and procedures. Ensure adherence to relevant legislation, external policy, and safe practices.
11. Continually monitor and evaluate practices to ensure quality of service provision and improvement is maintained by working closely with the Development Manager & Directors.
12. Ensure information and advice are communicated in a clear, concise, and accurate manner through written and verbal communication. This involves attending monthly team meetings.
13. Provide support to colleagues within the Team where appropriate; this will include covering ad hoc sessions or long-term absences where required.
14. Support management with appraisals, recruitment, and workforce development.
15. Undertaking other duties to assist the organisation across their wider work.
Person Specification:
- Experience planning and delivering inclusive physical activity sessions. Previous demonstrable experience of delivering exercise classes to groups with post-qualification experience through mentoring or direct delivery.
- Experience of working with older people and people who have specific LTHC’s such as Dementia, Alzheimer’s, Parkinsons.
- Ability to work flexibly in accordance with the needs of the organisation. This role will be required to work evenings and weekends as and when necessary.
- Experience working with people who have Long Term Health Conditions and Disabilities.
- NVQ Level 3 Exercise to music, gym instructor qualification or equivalent.
- Up to date First aid and Safeguarding certificates.

Desirable:
- NVQ Level 3 Exercise Referral qualification or NVQ Level 4 Health qualification - Cardiac, PSI, Stroke, CanRehab.
- Experience setting up projects with people who have been previously inactive, creating sustainable programmes.
- A degree level qualification within Physical Activity, Physiotherapy, Sports Development, or a similar subject area.
- First aid Qualified & strong knowledge on Safeguarding.
- Strong local knowledge and experience working in community roles.
Pay: £27,750.00-£30,000.00 per year
