This Assistant Project Manager role sits within the Category Development Team in Hampshire County Council, Property Services. The team acts as the central point for framework management, supplier and contractor engagement, performance insight, and supporting both internal and external clients.
As an Assistant Project Manager, you will be supporting the operations of a high-profile framework, SCF / Southern Construction Framework within the Major Construction Category.
As a part of this team, you will assist Project / Framework Managers with operations through supplier management, client support, and development of the framework.
Supplier & Client Management
- Assist Project / Framework Managers with attendance at key meetings including producing agendas, taking minutes, and recording actions.
- Support with supplier management by monitoring performance of contractors and ensuring compliance with key performance indicators, reporting requirements, and guidelines and working practices.
- Support Project / Framework Managers with addressing client and supplier queries as appropriate e.g. sharing templates and guiding on their use.
- Support on creating and implementing systems and processes amongst the internal team and external suppliers; ensuring that stakeholders are onboarded and mobilised for the use of new systems and ways of working e.g. onboarding users for new IT, introducing changes in data reporting, or progress updates.
Information Management
- Assist with the creation and maintenance of logs, registers, databases, and progress reports.
- Always maintain thorough document control and storage.
Using Data
- Support with data collection and market research, this could be through attending supplier working groups and collating feedback from subject-matter experts or forming data questionnaires.
- Use data to identify trends, best practices, and share recommendations to improve performance and support decision making. You’ll need to be confident in managing large quantities of information.
- Ensure recommendations or conclusions are presented with clarity and that key messaging is communicated effectively to a professional standard e.g. quality written reports, data dashboards.
This role would suit someone with:
- A background or interest in project management who enjoys working in a complex, multi stakeholder environment. You’ll need to be comfortable with working on numerous projects with multiple stakeholders at once.
- Experience of using data to draw conclusion and provide recommendations.
- Experience of using Excel to at least a beginners’ standard will be necessary.
- Confidence producing clear, professional written content for different audiences.
- Confidence in driving projects and outcomes forward, whilst demonstrating a respect for governance procedures and processes.
Attitude
- Proactive attitude with a natural curiosity to learn. You’ll need an eye for detail.
- Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to build professional relationships with suppliers, clients, and wider stakeholders.
