As a First Fence Depot Manager, your main responsibilities will include:
Leading Sustainable Growth: You will be responsible for driving sustainable growth for the business. This involves developing and implementing strategies to increase sales, improve operational efficiency, and expand the customer base. You will work closely with the Operations Manager, Operations Director, and central teams to achieve these objectives.
People Management and Development: You will be responsible for leading, supporting, and developing your team. This includes hiring and training employees, setting performance expectations, providing feedback and coaching, and ensuring a positive and inclusive work environment. You will work closely with the Depot Management team to optimize team performance and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
Customer Focus: You will prioritize the needs of the customers and ensure that the team delivers exceptional service. This involves understanding customer requirements, resolving any issues or complaints, and maintaining high standards of customer satisfaction. Your focus on doing the right thing for customers will be evident in your daily interactions and decision-making.
Operational Excellence: You will set and maintain operational standards in line with company policies. This includes compliance with transport legislation, health and safety regulations, and other relevant industry guidelines. You will work closely with the central teams, such as Sales and Commercial, to ensure smooth operations and achieve business objectives.
Collaboration and Communication: You will collaborate with various stakeholders, including the Depot Management team, Operations Manager, Operations Director, and central teams. Effective communication and coordination will be crucial to align strategies, share best practices, and drive overall success.
Overall, your role as a First Fence Depot Manager involves leading, developing, and supporting your team to achieve sustainable growth, while prioritising customer satisfaction, operational excellence, and adherence to company standards.
Here's What You Can Expect To Be Doing
Sales Strategy: You should have experience in developing and implementing successful sales strategies. This includes understanding your local and national competitors, confidently competing in the market, and seeking new sales opportunities to drive depot growth.
Customer Focus: Putting customers first is essential. You should have a strong understanding of the importance of providing excellent customer service, building relationships and trust with customers, and ensuring their inquiries and complaints are addressed professionally and promptly.
Logistics and Compliance: A solid understanding of logistics, including transport legislation and operational requirements, is crucial to maintain legal compliance. This knowledge will help you effectively manage the depot's operations and ensure efficiency.
Team Leadership: Experience in leading and motivating teams is important. You should have the ability to build a high-performance culture, delegate tasks, set performance expectations, and support the well-being and development of your team members.
Results-Oriented: Meeting targets and working to KPIs and budgets is part of the role. You should be familiar with working in a fast-paced environment with changing workloads and have experience in working to tight deadlines.
HR Knowledge: Some understanding of HR issues and managing performance is beneficial. This includes conducting investigations, handling grievances, conducting disciplinary meetings, and conducting performance management and appraisals in a fair and consistent manner.
Communication and Problem-Solving: Strong communication skills are important for effective collaboration with teams, stakeholders, and customers. Being able to remain calm under pressure, solve problems autonomously, and communicate effectively at all levels is valuable.
