Full job description

Overview

The Electronic Production Technician is responsible for assembling, testing, and maintaining electronic products and sub‑assemblies to required quality, safety, and production standards. The role supports efficient manufacturing operations by ensuring consistent build quality, accurate documentation, and proactive problem‑solving on the production line

Key Responsibilities

Production & Assembly

Assemble electronic components, PCBs, wiring looms, and control panels following engineering drawings, schematics, and work instructions.

Perform soldering (through‑hole and SMT), crimping, cable preparation, and mechanical assembly to IPC or company standards.
Build prototypes and support engineering teams with new product introduction (NPI).

Testing & Quality Control

Conduct functional testing, fault‑finding, and calibration of electronic assemblies and finished products.
Use test equipment such as multi-meters, oscilloscopes, power supplies, and continuity testers.
Identify non‑conformances, complete quality documentation, and support root‑cause analysis.
Ensure all work meets ISO 9001, safety, and regulatory requirements.

Documentation & Process Control

Maintain accurate production records, test results, and build documentation.
Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
Provide feedback to engineering on design or process improvements.

Maintenance & Support

Maintain tools, equipment, and workstations to ensure safe and efficient operation.
Support production planning by reporting material shortages or build issues.
Assist with training junior technicians or new team members.

Skills & Experience Required

Technical Skills

Strong understanding of electronic components, circuits, and wiring practices.
Competent in soldering, PCB rework, and electronic assembly techniques.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, wiring diagrams, and schematics.
Experience with diagnostic and test equipment.

Experience

Previous experience in an electronics manufacturing or assembly environment.
Familiarity with lean manufacturing, 5S, or continuous improvement is beneficial.
Experience working to ISO 9001 or similar quality frameworks.

Personal Attributes

High attention to detail and commitment to quality.
Strong problem‑solving skills and a proactive approach.
Good communication and teamwork abilities.
Ability to work independently and manage workload to meet production deadlines.

Qualifications

NVQ Level 2/3, BTEC, or equivalent in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or related discipline.
HNC/HND is advantageous but not essential.

Working Conditions

Workshop or production‑floor environment.
Use of hand tools, soldering equipment, and test instruments.
PPE and adherence to ESD controls required.

Pay: £26,437.00-£30,000.00 per year
