Full job description

Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated MOT Tester to join our team on a full-time or part-time basis. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting vehicle safety inspections in accordance with industry standards and legal requirements. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with a passion for automotive maintenance and a keen eye for detail to contribute to a reputable service centre. The ideal applicant will possess relevant mechanical knowledge and be comfortable working with various tools and equipment.

Responsibilities

Conduct MOT tests on a wide range of vehicles in compliance with legal and safety standards
Perform routine vehicle inspections, identifying any defects or issues that may affect safety or roadworthiness
Use hand tools, power tools, and specialised testing equipment accurately and efficiently
Maintain accurate records of all inspections and tests carried out
Ensure all work is completed within specified timeframes while adhering to health and safety regulations
Assist with general vehicle maintenance tasks as required
Keep the testing bay clean, organised, and compliant with industry standards

Skills

Strong mechanical knowledge of vehicle systems and components
Proficiency in using hand tools and power tools safely and effectively
Ability to perform heavy lifting safely when handling vehicles or equipment
Excellent attention to detail to ensure thorough inspections and accurate reporting
Good organisational skills to manage multiple tasks efficiently
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
Previous experience as an MOT tester or in automotive diagnostics is desirable but not essential, as training can be provided for the right candidate
