Full job description

Overview
We are seeking a diligent and detail-oriented Assistant Accountant to join our finance team. The successful candidate will support various accounting functions, ensuring accuracy and compliance across financial processes. Experience with recognised accounting software essential for this position. This is a part time position 14 hours per week, over 2 or 3 days.

Duties

Assist in maintaining accurate financial records using Sage Line 50 accounting and payroll software
Manage the Sales Ledger - create Sales Invoices, recording customer receipts, dealing with customer queries and some credit control.
Purchase Ledger – posting Purchase Invoices, checking against purchase orders and supplier delivery notes. Prepare and process supplier payments for authorisation. Check Supplier Statements against Sage, address queries.
Bank Reconciliation – process Bank Feeds on Sage, assist with bank reconciliations and cash flow monitoring
Contribute to the month-end and year-end closing procedures
Sage Payroll – cover for weekly Payroll during holiday periods (refresher training will be provided)
Office Administration – dealing with telephone calls, general filing, post, occasional banking, shopping and ordering stationary if required
Proven experience with accounting software such as Sage Line 50 or Xero.
Experience in financial accounting, including accounts payable and general ledger management
Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively
Good communication skills, both written and verbal
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
A recognised qualification in accounting or finance is preferred but not essential.
