Full job description

The Role

We are seeking compassionate and motivated Male support workers to support a 16-year-old young person living in the Bracknell area. Our client has a learning disability resulting from an acquired brain injury at birth, along with cerebral palsy, learning difficulties and a speech delay.

He relies on supportive adults to help promote his independence both at home and in the community. Encouraging his social inclusion and supporting his daily living skills are key priorities. The aim is to ensure he is able to live a full and active life, with opportunities to enjoy social and recreational activities such as going to football games (he loves Manchester United) and going to the cinema.

You will work closely with the client’s parents and follow their guidance to ensure his needs are met and his wellbeing is always protected.

Key Responsibilities

Supporting the young person to access the community, going to cinema, playing/watching football.
Encouraging independence in line with his therapy programme
Providing consistent, positive encouragement and companionship
Working collaboratively with the family to maintain a supportive environment

Important Information

The client does not require personal care or medication support.
The role is primarily a “buddy” style support role, focused on companionship, encouragement and participation in activities
Driving license is required, to support in community.
Family and client go on a long weekend once a quarter they would like the support worker to attend.

Hours required:

Term time:

Friday 16:30 - 22:00

Saturday 11:00 - 20:00

Sunday 09:00 - 14:00

Non term time:

Monday - Friday 11:00 - 20:00

About You

We are looking for someone who is:

Kind, patient and compassionate
Motivated to support a young person to build independence
Reliable and professional
Comfortable working closely with a family environment
Interested in supporting young people with learning disabilities

Experience in a similar role is beneficial but not essential for the right candidate with the right attitude and approach.
