Full job description

We’re seeking a part-time Accounts Assistant with experience working in Xero to support our bookkeeping and day-to-day accounts administration. You’ll help keep our financial records accurate and support UK VAT processes, including coding and preparation for VAT submissions.

Key Responsibilities:

Maintain accurate bookkeeping in Xero (including transaction coding and data entry)

Process and code supplier bills and customer invoices

Ensure correct UK VAT treatment (e.g., standard/reduced/exempt/zero-rated where applicable)

Reconcile bank accounts and transactions in Xero

Support accounts receivable/payable (including chasing outstanding invoices where needed)

Prepare information needed for VAT reporting

Maintain accounts inbox and respond to queries

Support filing/record-keeping to meet internal and compliance requirements

Skills & Experience Required:

Experience in an Accounts Assistant / Bookkeeping role (part-time or similar)

Proven Xero experience (hands-on day-to-day use)

Confident in transaction processing and VAT coding in Xero

Strong attention to detail and ability to work to deadlines

Comfortable with spreadsheets (Excel/Google Sheets)

Clear communication skills and a proactive approach

Desirable (Nice to Have):

Experience preparing VAT data / supporting VAT returns

Familiarity with common UK bookkeeping processes (purchase invoices, sales invoices, bank reconciliations, journals)

Experience with document tools (e.g., Hubdoc/Dext) or payment platforms
