Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Shuttering Carpenter to join our construction team. The successful candidate will be responsible for constructing, installing, and dismantling formwork for concrete structures on various commercial and industrial projects. This role requires a strong understanding of carpentry principles, mechanical knowledge, and the ability to work safely and efficiently in a dynamic environment. The position offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with experience in roofing, masonry, or heavy lifting to utilise their skills within a professional setting.
Responsibilities
- Construct and install formwork using hand tools and power tools according to project specifications and safety standards.
- Dismantle formwork upon completion of concrete pouring, ensuring the safe handling of materials.
- Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics to determine formwork requirements.
- Collaborate with other trades such as masons, roofers, and welders to ensure seamless project execution.
- Perform heavy lifting of materials and equipment necessary for formwork installation.
- Maintain a clean and organised work area, adhering to health and safety regulations at all times.
- Assist with site preparation, including setting out forms and ensuring accurate measurements.
- Operate relevant machinery or vehicles such as lorries or specialised lifting equipment when required.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Shuttering Carpenter or in related roles such as carpentry, roofing, or masonry.
- Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and other relevant machinery.
- Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to read technical drawings accurately.
- Physical strength and stamina for heavy lifting and prolonged periods of standing or working at heights.
- Knowledge of safety procedures related to construction sites, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Valid driving licence for commercial driving or operating site vehicles is desirable but not essential.
Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
