Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and dynamic Sous Chef to join our vibrant culinary team. The successful candidate will play a vital role in assisting the Head Chef and covering their 2 days off with daily kitchen operations, ensuring the delivery of high-quality dishes, and maintaining exceptional standards of food safety and hygiene. This position offers an excellent opportunity for a passionate culinary professional to develop their leadership skills within a busy hospitality environment.

Duties

Assist in the preparation and presentation of a diverse range of dishes in accordance with restaurant standards.
Supervise and support kitchen staff, ensuring efficient workflow and adherence to recipes and procedures.
Manage food production processes, including portion control and waste minimisation.
Oversee food safety practices, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations at all times.
Coordinate with front-of-house staff to ensure timely service and customer satisfaction.
Maintain cleanliness and organisation within the kitchen environment, adhering to hygiene standards.
Support the training and development of junior team members, fostering a positive team atmosphere.
Assist in menu planning and ingredient sourcing as required by the Head Chef.

Skills

Proven supervising experience within a busy kitchen or restaurant setting.
Extensive food production and preparation skills, with a strong focus on quality and consistency.
Demonstrated leadership abilities, capable of managing a team effectively under pressure.
Excellent cooking skills across various cuisines and techniques.
Solid kitchen experience, including food safety management and HACCP compliance.
Strong organisational skills with the ability to multitask efficiently during peak hours.
Good communication skills to coordinate with team members and front-of-house staff.
Hospitality experience with a customer-focused approach to service delivery.
Knowledge of serving procedures, ensuring smooth operations during service periods. This role is ideal for motivated culinary professionals eager to advance their career within a supportive environment that values creativity, teamwork, and excellence in hospitality.
