The Band 5 Dermatology Nurse will play a key role in delivering high‑quality, patient‑centred care across both dermatology sites. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, the postholder will support the delivery of outpatient clinics, nurse‑led reviews, and specialist services such as phototherapy and patch testing . The role will contribute to a more streamlined and efficient patient pathway by reducing the need for routine medical follow‑up appointments and enhancing nurse‑led management of chronic skin conditions.
The postholder will provide safe, evidence‑based care, undertake clinical assessments, deliver patient education, and support individuals to self‑manage their dermatological conditions. They will work collaboratively with consultants, specialist nurses, and wider MDT colleagues to ensure continuity of care and a positive patient experience.
This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated and compassionate nurse to develop specialist skills in dermatology, including skin assessment , treatment planning , and patient education . Full training and competency development will be provided to support progression within the specialty.

Provide high‑quality dermatology nursing care — Deliver safe, evidence‑based care to patients attending dermatology outpatient clinics across both sites.
Undertake clinical assessments — Perform skin assessments, document findings accurately, and escalate concerns appropriately.
Support nurse‑led clinics — Manage follow‑up reviews, treatment monitoring, and patient education to reduce demand on medical appointments.
Deliver phototherapy treatments — Administer UVB/UVA therapy safely, following competency training and service protocols.
Assist with patch testing services — Apply, remove, and read patch tests, providing patient guidance and supporting diagnosis.
Provide patient education and self‑management support — Offer clear information on skin conditions, treatments, lifestyle advice, and flare‑up management
Maintain accurate clinical documentation — Record assessments, treatments, and care plans in line with Trust and NMC standards.
Work collaboratively within the MDT — Liaise with consultants, specialist nurses, pharmacists, and administrative teams to ensure continuity of care.
Support training and development — Participate in competency‑based training, reflective practice, and ongoing professional development in dermatology.
Promote a safe and inclusive environment — Uphold safeguarding responsibilities and ensure equitable care for all patients.
