We have a fantastic opportunity for a Healthcare Assistant to join the Primary Care team at HMP Belmarsh. HMP Belmarsh is a Category A prison in London, with capacity for 773 males.

HMP Belmarsh is a busy maximum security prison and we are recruiting for a Healthcare Assistant to support to wider healthcare team. Ideal candidate will be phlebotomy trained.

Hours

This position is full time working 37.5 hours per week

Long shifts 0700 - 1900

Monday - Sunday on a rota basis.

Salary

Up to £32,143 per annum

What you'll be doing

As our new Healthcare Assistant, your responsibilities will vary. Some of your duties will include:

Deliver exceptional care to patients, both in the healthcare department and on the wings
Facilitate clinics, including bloods, observations (obs), ECGs, NHS Health checks etc
Be involved in the implementation of clinical care packages
Support the nursing team with all aspects of care
Act as a second checker in pharmacy as required
Support receptions (new patients entering the prison) and assist with triaging new patients

Our new Healthcare Assistant will:

Ideally hold an NVQ Level 2 or 3 qualification in Health & Social Care, or Care Certificate
Have experience within phlebotomy - this is highly desirable!
Have experience in a clinical care setting previously - ideally from a hospital or prison setting
Have clinical experience - venepuncture, ECGs etc
Have a non-judgemental and compassionate approach
