Job Title: Teaching Assistant
Location: New Barn School - River View House, Newbury, Berkshire RG14 2PS
Salary: £23,638.00 per annum (not pro rata)
Hours: 40 hours per week | Monday to Friday
Contract: Permanent | Term Time Only
Start: September 2026

What You'll Be Doing

Support pupils with SEMH and additional needs to engage positively in learning.
Work alongside teachers to deliver engaging and personalised learning activities.
Provide one-to-one and small group support tailored to individual pupil needs.
Help create a safe, nurturing and structured learning environment.
Encourage pupils to develop confidence, resilience and independence.
Support pupils' emotional wellbeing and positive behaviour development.
Prepare learning resources and assist with classroom activities.
Work collaboratively as part of a passionate multi-disciplinary team focused on achieving the best outcomes for every pupil.

About You

We're looking for someone who:

Holds GCSE English and Maths (Grade 4/C or above) or equivalent.
Has experience as a Teaching Assistant or working with children and young people (SEN experience desirable).
Has an interest in supporting pupils with SEMH, Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and additional needs.
Builds positive, trusting relationships with young people.
Is patient, adaptable and resilient when faced with challenges.
Embraces a therapeutic and nurturing approach to supporting learning and behaviour.
Works well both independently and as part of a team.
Is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
