Job Description-Painter/Sprayer
Department: Final Assembly
Location: Columbus Way & North Way Andover
Reports to: Fitting Shop Manager

Role Purpose:
To carry out painting and spraying duties on trailers and associated components to the required standard, ensuring safety, cleanliness, and efficiency in the paint shop.
Health & Safety Compliance
§ Always follow company Health & Safety procedures and wear the required PPE
§ Ensure that painting tasks are conducted in a safe and controlled manner, including use of extraction systems and safe handling of chemicals
§ Work safely and complete site-specific risk assessments prior to starting work
Paint Preparation & Application
§ Mix paint accurately according to manufacturer instructions and job specifications
§ Apply primer and top coat using spray equipment to a high standard
Material Management
§ Ensure all paint and materials are correctly labelled, stored, and returned to their designated places after use
§ Check and confirm that required paint is available at least one day prior to scheduled use
§ Monitor stock levels of paint and consumables and inform the relevant person when reordering is required
Equipment & Maintenance
§ Change extraction filters as scheduled or when required
§ Ensure tools and spray equipment are cleaned and maintained in good working condition
§ Report any faults or breakdowns immediately.
Housekeeping & Organisation
§ Keep the work area clean and tidy throughout the shift
§ Dispose of waste materials safely and in accordance with environmental guidelines
Essential Skills & Requirements
§ Experience in industrial or automotive painting/spraying preferred
§ Basic understanding of Health & Safety regulations and COSHH
§ Good attention to detail and ability to work to quality standards
§ Ability to manage time effectively and work without direct supervision
§ Physically fit and capable of working in a standing role for extended periods
Working Hours:
Monday to Friday, 39 hours per week
Breaks:
§ Standard break times do not apply. Painters are expected to take their breaks during drying times after primer and top coat applications
Salary:
£14.50 per hour during 3 month probationary period, with potential to increase to £16.50 following objectives being met. Additional Overtime may be available.
