Full job description

About the Role

We are looking for an organised and reliable Prescription Clerk to join our team for 18.5 hours a week. The successful candidate will support the efficient processing of repeat prescriptions, liaise with patients, clinicians, and pharmacies, and help ensure a high standard of administrative support within the practice.

Key Responsibilities

Process repeat prescription requests in line with practice policies and procedures.
Review prescription requests and forward queries to the appropriate clinician.
Liaise with local pharmacies regarding prescription enquiries.
Handle patient enquiries by telephone, email, and in person.
Maintain accurate patient records and update clinical systems as required.
Monitor prescription workflows to ensure requests are processed within agreed timescales.
Support the administrative team with general office duties when required.
Maintain confidentiality and comply with data protection regulations.

Person SpecificationEssential

Excellent administrative and organisational skills.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Good communication and customer service skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Competent IT skills, including Microsoft Office and database systems.
Understanding of confidentiality and data protection requirements.

Desirable

Previous experience in a GP practice, pharmacy, or healthcare setting.
Knowledge of repeat prescription processes.
Experience using clinical systems such as EMIS, SystmOne, or Vision.
