Temporary Deputy Manager

6 Month Fixed-Term Contract (Possible Extension and Sponsorship)

Salary: £33,000–£35,000 per annum, pro rata
Location: Grays, Essex
Contract type: Fixed-term, 6 months
Working pattern: Full-time, including flexibility for on-call duties where required

Overview

Unite Highland Care is seeking an experienced and motivated Deputy Manager to support the day-to-day delivery of high-quality care across our supported-living services.

Working closely with the Service Manager and Registered Manager, you will help oversee service operations, support and supervise staff, maintain safe staffing levels and ensure that care is delivered in line with individual care plans, organisational policies and regulatory standards.

This is initially a six-month fixed-term position, with the possibility of extension and Sponsorship subject to eligibility, performance, organisational requirements.

Key responsibilities

Support the Service Manager and Registered Manager with the daily running of the services.
Manage and review staff rotas to maintain safe and effective staffing levels.
Supervise, guide and support Support Workers, Team Leaders and other care staff.
Carry out staff supervisions, appraisals and performance reviews.
Undertake regular service visits, spot checks and health and safety checks.
Monitor staff attendance, timekeeping, sickness and annual leave.
Support recruitment, onboarding and staff induction.
Review care plans, risk assessments and service-user documentation.
Manage and report incidents, accidents, complaints and safeguarding concerns.
Support medication competency checks and service audits.
Work with service users, families, commissioners and other professionals.
Help ensure compliance with CQC, Ofsted, PAMMS and organisational standards.
Participate in the management on-call system and provide cover when required.
Deputise for senior managers where appropriate.

What We Are Looking For

Previous supervisory or senior-level experience within health or social care, such as Senior Support Worker, Team Leader or Deputy Manager.
Experience working within supported living or domiciliary care.
Good knowledge of safeguarding adults, children and young people.
Experience leading and supporting staff teams.
Experience with staff rotas and workforce planning.
Understanding of care plans, risk assessments, incident reporting and regulatory compliance.
Knowledge of CQC and Ofsted requirements.
Strong communication, organisational and leadership skills.
Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.
Flexibility to work and take part in on-call arrangements where required.
Good written and spoken English.
Right to work in the UK.
Level 5 qualification in Health and Social Care.
Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
