Full job description

Host/Hostess at London Street Brasserie, Reading, RG1 4PN

Looking for someone with previous host experience or similar for at least 2 years. Able to manage a busy bookings diary & have the ability to multitask. The role may lead to assisting the owner's PA & other admin work. Delegated tasks include, but aren't limited to:

Meet & greet guests, seat them at their table (be able to have quick thinking when it comes to guest numbers changing, mainly for big tables)
Be able to judge the bookings and see if we can seat walk-in tables especially during busy services
Answer phone calls & emails, being confident & helpful with enquiries
Understand how the booking system works & to book reservations at correct times
Ordering stock & supplies for the restaurant when necessary
Organising pre-orders for group bookings & liaise with the managers/kitchen when changes occur
Keeping organised & on top of the workload
The ability to think on your feet & assess situations rationally
Typing to a professional standard with good grammar & punctuation

The ideal candidate will have had experience working in hospitality, restaurant experience is preferable due to knowing how to manage bookings etc. You will also be able to communicate efficiently & work to a high standard. Experience of around 2 years would be ideal.

Pay is dependent on experience & negotiable, however top money for the right candidate.

Hours vary but estimated to be around 20-30 per week. Potential to increase hours. Flexibility is a necessity as you will be working around current members of staff. Therefore working days will vary. Will be required to work some weekends (inc. Friday) & ideally available most Sundays - at least between 11am-5pm or later.
