- Part-Time employment, 12–15 hours per week
- Working Pattern: Monday–Friday, term-time only
- After-School Club: 15:15–18:00
- Pay: £14.91 – £16.25 per hour (including holiday pay and dependant on experience)
- Minimum Age: Applicants must be 18+ (Due to the nature of this role and our safeguarding and insurance obligations)
- Opportunity for additional hours through breakfast clubs at nearby settings and during school holidays
- Free PH ActiveEd/PH Camps childcare places (for children aged 4+)
About the Role
We are excited to be recruiting a Childcare Leader to launch and lead a brand-new after-school club at Wardour Primary School from September 2026. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced childcare professional who enjoys working with children and is confident leading a small team within a school setting.
As Childcare Leader, you will take responsibility for the day-to-day delivery of high-quality wraparound care, creating a safe, nurturing and engaging environment where children can relax, play and thrive after the school day. Initially, you will be supported by one assistant, with the potential for the team to grow as the club develops.
This role would suit someone who is organised, approachable and enthusiastic, with the confidence to work independently while building strong relationships with children, parents, school staff and PH ActiveEd colleagues. Our long-standing relationship with the school provides a strong foundation for this new setting and long-term opportunity.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the daily running of the after-school club
- Plan and deliver a range of engaging activities that support children’s physical, social and emotional development
- Ensure the safety, well-being and enjoyment of all children in your care
- Build strong, positive relationships with children, parents, school staff and colleagues
- Manage the set-up and pack-down of sessions, maintaining a clean, safe and welcoming environment
- Maintain accurate records, including registers and incident logs
- Follow all safeguarding, health and safety and company policies
- Support and mentor other team members to ensure consistently high-quality provision
What We’re Looking For
- Experience working with children aged 4–11 years (essential)
- Experience as a lone worker or as a small team/site leader (desirable)
- Experience working in a primary school environment (desirable)
- A relevant Level 2 or 3 qualification in childcare, play work, teaching assistance or sports (desirable)
- Someone friendly, organised, flexible and dependable
- A positive, proactive attitude and genuine passion for supporting children
- Paediatric First Aid, Food Hygiene and Safeguarding qualifications (desirable - training can be provided)
- The ability to obtain an enhanced DBS certificate
