About the role

We are on a journey in Bury and doing things differently. With the creation of our new Adolescent Service and the development of a dedicated Bury Youth Justice Service, this is an exciting opportunity to join Team Bury and contribute to a service that is focused on improving outcomes for children, victims and communities.

We recognise that the Referral Order Coordinator plays a vital and specialist role within Youth Justice. You will be central to delivering highquality restorative justice work, empowering children to recognise their strengths, reflect on their experiences, make positive choices, and make meaningful changes, while ensuring that victims’ voices are heard and respected.

Our Youth Justice Service is part of the new Adolescent Service, allowing for a more joinedup, targeted and traumainformed approach. This aligns with key national priorities including Child First, Youth Justice reform and Families First.

At the heart of everything we do are the children and young people of Bury. We want practitioners who can engage young people in a positive way, support accountability, and promote restorative approaches that repair harm and build stronger communities.

Your role in practice

As a Referral Order Coordinator, you will take the lead in coordinating the Referral Order process from court through to completion, ensuring highquality delivery and positive outcomes.

You will:

Coordinate all aspects of Referral Orders, ensuring they are delivered in line with statutory requirements and best practice

Organise and facilitate Referral Order Panels, ensuring they are wellprepared, engaging and effective

Act as a key link between courts, practitioners, volunteers, children and families, ensuring clear communication and coordination

Support children to understand the process and engage positively with restorative justice approaches

Work with victims, ensuring their views are heard and their involvement is safe, informed and voluntary

Monitor progress and address noncompliance where necessary, supporting positive outcomes

Maintain accurate records and prepare reports and panel documentation to a high standard

Support and work alongside Referral Order Panel volunteers, including their development and involvement

This is a coordinating and facilitative role, where your organisation, communication and ability to bring people together will be key to success.
