Would you like a career like no other? If so… Join Us
South Wales Police brings together thousands of people with the same aim – to keep South Wales safe.
We want to be the best at understanding and responding to our community’s needs. To do this we need the very best candidates from a wide range of backgrounds to apply to become part of our policing family.
We are looking for someone to #JoinUs as Digital Print Operator within our Printing Department. Could you be who we are looking for?
About the team/Department you will be joining:
The Print Department is a long-established in-house print facility within South Wales Police and is located within Police Headquarters, Bridgend. This position will provide an exciting opportunity for the right individual to join our friendly and dynamic in-house team.
About the role and your key responsibilities:
We are looking for an experienced and motivated Digital Print Operator with proven expertise within the digital print and large-format print sector.
You will be responsible for the production of a wide range of high-quality printed materials, operating both digital and large-format printing equipment to meet the diverse requirements of South Wales Police. This includes the preparation, printing, finishing and installation/application of printed products while ensuring the highest standards of quality, accuracy and customer service.
Key responsibilities include:
Operating and maintaining SRA3 digital production presses and finishing devices.
Operating large-format print and print-and-cut equipment, plotters, direct to object printers and finishing devices.
Producing a variety of printed materials including brochures, leaflets, reports, booklets, posters, banners, signage, exhibition graphics, vehicle graphics and promotional materials.
Preparing and checking artwork files for production.
Managing print workflows and production schedules to ensure work is completed efficiently and within agreed deadlines.
Monitoring print quality, colour consistency and carrying out routine quality control checks.
Performing routine operator maintenance, troubleshooting and minor fault diagnosis on digital and large-format equipment to minimise downtime.
Undertaking a range of finishing processes including cutting, trimming, folding, creasing, laminating, mounting, binding, perforating and booklet making.
Applying graphics, signage and other printed materials to a variety of surfaces where required.
Maintaining stock levels of paper, substrates, inks, toners and consumables, and assisting with inventory management.
Ensuring all work is carried out in accordance with health and safety procedures, departmental standards and environmental best practice.
The successful candidate will possess extensive knowledge of digital and large-format print production processes, strong technical and problem-solving skills, and a keen eye for detail. You will be comfortable working in a busy production environment, managing multiple jobs simultaneously and delivering consistently high-quality output. The role requires a proactive individual who can work independently, as well as collaboratively within a small team, to meet demanding production deadlines.
A current valid driving licence is essential to enable travel within the South Wales Police area and property portfolio.
The successful Candidate must be willing to undergo vetting to RV Vetting.
Please note, if you are an internal candidate and subject to an ongoing PSD investigation, your appointment or placement in the role may be delayed pending an outcome. Whether the role is held open will be considered on a case-by-case basis
As an equal opportunities’ employer, we welcome applications from all suitably qualified persons. However, as Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic candidates are currently underrepresented within the Force, we would particularly welcome applications from ethnically diverse candidates.
To support the ambition of a diverse workforce, South Wales Place is able to offer a Guaranteed Interview Scheme (GIS). The GIS is available for people living with a disability or identify as ethnically diverse.
If you are an applicant who is living with a disability or from an ethnically diverse background (Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic) and would like to be considered under the GIS, you must meet the essential minimum criteria for the role as outlined in the advert and role profile. You should take time to evidence that you meet each of the essential criteria in your application form and/or personal statement and CV.
There are numerous benefits to working for South Wales Police, from learning and development opportunities to schemes which aim to improve your lifestyle and wellbeing, as well as generous Local Government Pension Scheme / Police Pension Schemes, paid annual leave, flexible working and family friendly policies and many more.
