Residential Support Worker
Location: RCT
Salary: Circa £29,600–£31,400 per annum, depending on qualifications. This includes guaranteed sleep-in payments based on the standard three-week rolling rota, plus additional overtime opportunities.
Hourly Rate:
- £13.71 per hour – Qualified (Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare or equivalent)
- £12.71 per hour – Unqualified (with a fully funded Level 3 qualification provided)
Sleep-In Payment: £50 per sleep-in shift
Hours: Full-time position on a three-week rolling rota
Driving Licence: Full UK Driving Licence required
DBS Requirement: Enhanced DBS Disclosure required

About the Role
As a Residential Support Worker, you will work alongside the Registered Manager, Deputy Manager and wider team to provide consistent, compassionate and effective support to children and young people living within our residential homes.
You will help create an emotionally secure, stable and caring environment where young people feel valued, listened to and supported.
The role involves developing positive relationships, supporting individual care plans, promoting independence and helping young people develop the skills they need for adulthood.
You will act as a positive role model while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries at all times.
Key Responsibilities
Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing a safe, caring and supportive home environment for children and young people.
- Building positive and trusting relationships.
- Supporting the implementation and review of individual care plans.
- Promoting independence, confidence and personal development.
- Supporting young people with education, appointments and activities.
- Encouraging positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing.
- Safeguarding children and young people in line with legislation and company procedures.
- Recognising individual needs and responding appropriately.
- Working effectively with social workers, families, schools and other professionals.
- Maintaining accurate records, reports and daily documentation.
- Supporting activities, trips, holidays and community involvement.
- Administering medication where trained and authorised to do so.
- Completing household duties, including cooking, cleaning, laundry and maintaining a welcoming home environment.
- Supporting young people to develop practical and social skills.
- Following CIW regulations, safeguarding procedures and company policies.
Shift Pattern
This role operates on a three-week rolling rota, consisting of 2, 2 and 3 shifts across the three-week cycle.
Each shift consists of:
- 15.25 paid working hours
- A sleep-in shift paid at £50
This means you will complete a 24-hour shift pattern, with the working hours paid at your hourly rate and the sleep-in paid separately.
There are also opportunities to pick up additional overtime shifts, allowing you to increase your earnings.

Essential Requirements
- Full UK driving licence.
- Enhanced DBS Disclosure (or willingness to complete one).

- Ability to work flexibly to meet the needs of the young people.
Qualifications and Experience
A Level 3 Diploma/NVQ/QCF in Residential Childcare or an equivalent qualification is desirable but not essential.
Previous experience working in residential childcare is desirable, although experience working with children and young people in any setting will be considered.
If you do not currently hold a Level 3 qualification, you will be supported to complete this following successful completion of your probation period.
All full-time employees will be expected to participate in relevant qualification training, which will be fully funded by Midway Transitional Solutions Ltd.
