Temporary Bar/Waitressing Staff

Conservative Social Club, Barnstaple

Job Summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Bar/Waitressing staff member to join our vibrant, member-only Conservative Social Club in Barnstaple. We are seeking an individual who will contribute to our friendly and professional team, ensuring all members experience a warm welcome and high-quality service.

Our Club features a bar, lounge bar, and function room. Usually serving a variety of home-cooked food and drinks throughout the week. Members can enjoy activities such as skittles, pool, snooker, shove ha’penny, and darts in a sociable environment.

Responsibilities

Taking orders for food and drink from members.
Serving food promptly and professionally.
Serving alcoholic beverages responsibly.
Assisting with membership enquiries and issues.
Cleaning and resetting tables to maintain a welcoming environment.
Processing payments accurately, including both cash and card transactions.
Undertaking cleaning duties, including stocking supplies, sanitising surfaces, sweeping floors, and general upkeep.

Skills & Qualities

Strong hospitality skills, with a keen focus on customer satisfaction.
Knowledge of food safety practices and hygiene standards.
Previous experience in a restaurant, bar, pub, or other customer-facing role is highly desirable.
Basic maths skills for handling cash transactions and managing orders.
Excellent time management to handle busy periods efficiently.
A positive attitude and ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
Friendly, reliable, and hardworking, with a can-do approach and readiness to work as part of a team.
