Full job description

An exciting opportunity to kickstart your career in payroll! You'll develop a strong understanding of payroll systems, compliance, and best practices while earning a recognised qualification. This role is perfect for a detail-oriented individual eager to learn, grow, and contribute to an efficient and supportive team.

As a Payroll Apprentice, you will join our Payroll Team and gain hands-on experience working within a high-volume, fast-paced payroll environment. This role offers a unique opportunity to learn the end-to-end payroll process while supporting thousands of workers across multiple payroll models.

You will be trained by experienced payroll professionals and supported throughout your apprenticeship, developing both technical payroll knowledge and broader commercial awareness.

We are an established payroll company with over 20 years of industry experience, providing compliant and reliable payroll services to 8,000+ workers across the UK. We are FCSA accredited, hold a strong reputation within the industry, and are continuing to expand our accreditations throughout this year.

Our Exeter office thrives on collaboration and in-person working. We believe that being office-based full time creates a supportive team environment where people learn faster, grow together, and are always supported by experienced colleagues.

Some areas you will be exposed to are

List of Duties:

Support the Payroll Team with the accurate and timely processing of payroll.
Respond to payroll queries from employees and internal teams.
Use payroll software efficiently.
Help ensure payroll complies with HMRC and company policies.
Support with payslip queries.
Ensure statutory payments (sick pay, maternity/paternity pay, holiday pay) are calculated correctly.
Shadow experienced payroll administrators and accountants.
Develop skills in confidentiality, accuracy, time management, and customer service.
Filing payroll reports and payslips securely and distributing them to contractors

Hours: 37.50 per week

Training Provided:
