Full job description

We have a fantastic opportunity to join our small, friendly team here at Shirley Swimming Pool, to start or further your career in the leisure industry. We are an independent and family-run, dedicated swim school, for babies all the way up to adults, with everything in between.

We are looking for a Leisure Receptionist who is motivated, friendly, and happiest when working with people. You will join our front-of-house team, providing excellent customer service to our existing members, responding to new customer enquiries in a professional and timely manner, and ensuring the reception and changing areas are maintained to a high standard at all times. We are looking for a candidate that can build rapport with members, enjoys working in a child-based environment and has a keen eye for detail.

Whilst experience in a similar role is desirable, it is not essential, as we provide full training for the right candidate. This role includes lifeguarding so you must either have a NPLQ qualification or be happy for the company to fund and enrol you on to a local course. We provide ongoing monthly training, as well as opportunities to train in other areas of the leisure industry, such as pool plant operations and swimming teaching. You will also be trained up in our Café, serving snacks & drinks. Essential skills for the role include a good swimming ability, computer literacy, and confidence when communicating with others.

As a leisure receptionist, following your training, you will be required to be the first responder should an incident occur, and must be willing to administer first aid. All applicants must be strong swimmers to be able to attend the life saving course in water.

Benefits include free use of the facilities at all times, free swimming lessons for your children, and 30% off of our on-site café. Additionally, there are monthly incentives and targets for signing up new members. Shirley Pool is a purpose-built two-pool teaching centre, dedicated to making every swimming lesson productive and fun. We teach Parent & baby classes from 6 weeks old to Adults.

Applicants must be 18 years or over and be a strong swimmer. If you have a valid NPLQ qualification, great, if not, then the right candidate will be enrolled on to a local Emergency Pool responder course funded by the company.

Summer part time position with the potential of being permanent, immediate start and shifts will be afternoons, evenings & weekends, however some shifts may be able to be picked up during the week. As we are open all year round, we need applicants to be able to work during school holidays.

Please do not apply if you are unable to work evenings & weekends or you are unable to commit to working all year round. We close every on Bank Holiday Mondays and between Christmas and New Year (24th December - 1st January)

You will also be asked to demonstrate in the pool your swimming capability as part of the interview process.
