INTERNAL JOB. This vacancy is only available to Torfaen County Borough Council (TCBC) employees and agency workers currently engaged with TCBC.

This is an exciting opportunity to join Torfaen’s Child Protection and Court Team as a Family Intervention Worker, where you will play a vital role in supporting children and families to achieve safe, lasting change. Working alongside case-holding Social Workers, you will provide intensive, strengths-based intervention to families where there are concerns about risk, parenting capacity or caring responsibilities, helping to reduce the need for statutory intervention wherever it is safe to do so. You will support children and families involved in child protection, Public Law Outline (PLO) and court proceedings, working collaboratively with parents, carers and partner agencies to build on strengths, address risk and promote positive outcomes. This role is central to Torfaen’s commitment to safely reducing the number of Children Looked After by helping more children remain safely within their family networks wherever possible, while contributing to assessments, care planning and reviews.

We are looking for a compassionate, motivated and resilient individual with excellent people skills and a genuine commitment to working alongside families at times of challenge and change. This is a rewarding role for someone who is passionate about helping children and young people experience safe, positive parenting and supporting families to make meaningful changes that enable children to remain and thrive within their family care wherever possible.

Torfaen are committed to staff development and provide opportunities for support staff to access funding to undertake a Social Work degree and other relevant training.
