The Opportunity
We are seeking a proactive and commercially minded Strategic Buyer – Indirect to join our Supply Chain team. In this role, you will lead sourcing and procurement activities for indirect spend, playing a key part in driving value, managing supplier relationships, and supporting business-wide projects.
This is an exciting opportunity to work cross-functionally with stakeholders across engineering, production, and quality, influencing procurement strategy and contributing to business performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead competitive tendering processes and RFQs for indirect commodities
- Partner with internal stakeholders on large CAPEX and business projects to understand requirements and influence purchasing decisions
- Identify, evaluate, and onboard new suppliers to meet business needs
- Develop and implement sourcing strategies for high value spend areas
- Manage supplier performance and ensure robust contracts, service levels, and compliance
- Raise and manage purchase orders for indirect spend
- Mitigate supply risks and ensure adherence to procurement governance standards
Qualifications & Experience
We welcome candidates from all backgrounds. To succeed, you will bring:
- Experience in an indirect procurement or strategic buying role (ideally 2+ years)
- Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills
- Experience working with ERP/MRP systems (ideally SAP)
- Solid analytical skills with competency in Excel and Microsoft Office
- Understanding of engineering or manufacturing environments is advantageous
- Knowledge of E-Procurement tools and processes
- Degree qualified is desirable
- CIPS (Level 4 or working towards) would be advantageous.
