Who Are We?

The Percy Hedley Foundation is one of the largest regional charities supporting people with a range of learning and physical needs. We take a person centred, flexible approach to the care and support we provide. We have five sites providing specialist education, adult day services, residential care and independent supported living to our service users. Our sites are based in Forest Hall, Killingworth, Jesmond, Newcastle City Centre and North Shields.

The Role

We are looking for an enthusiastic and compassionate Occupational Therapist to join our multidisciplinary therapy team, supporting young adults with learning and physical disabilities. This is an excellent opportunity for a newly qualified or early-career Occupational Therapist to develop their skills within a supportive and experienced team, working closely with education staff, families, and external professionals to deliver person-centred care.

Key Responsibilities

As a Phase 1 Occupational Therapist, you will:

Deliver occupational therapy assessments and interventions with support from senior therapists.

Support students with physical, sensory, communication, and learning needs.

Promote independence and participation in education and daily living activities.

Implement therapeutic strategies within the classroom and wider college environment.

Assist with specialist equipment, adaptations, and moving and handling recommendations.

Maintain clinical records and contribute to EHCP reviews and reports.

Participate in clinical supervision, training, and professional development.

About You

HCPC-registered Occupational Therapist (or due to qualify).

Passionate about supporting young adults with complex needs.

Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Positive, adaptable, and committed to person-centred practice.
