Due to continued growth and the successful expansion of our active fire division, we are seeking a skilled and motivated Fire Alarm, Emergency Lighting & Sprinkler Service Engineer to join our growing team.
This exciting opportunity will see you working alongside a major local housing association, helping to safeguard thousands of residents across a diverse property portfolio while also supporting a broad range of commercial and public sector clients.
As part of AFT Group, you will play a vital role in ensuring that critical life safety systems remain compliant, operational, and ready to perform when needed most.
The Role
This is a varied and rewarding field-based position involving the inspection, testing, servicing, maintenance, fault-finding, and repair of fire protection systems across multiple sites.
You will work with a wide range of industry-leading fire protection technologies and manufacturers, supporting both planned preventative maintenance programmes and reactive service requirements.
Your responsibilities will include:
Fire Alarm Systems
- Inspection, testing, servicing, maintenance, and repair of fire alarm systems.
- Fault diagnosis and rectification.
- System testing in accordance with BS 5839.
- Identification and reporting of non-compliances and deficiencies.
Emergency Lighting Systems
- Routine inspection and testing.
- Functional and duration testing.
- Maintenance and remedial works.
- Compliance reporting in accordance with BS 5266.
Sprinkler Systems
- Planned preventative maintenance and servicing of sprinkler systems.
- Routine inspections of sprinkler heads, valves, pumps, tanks, pipework, and associated equipment.
- Reporting defects, impairments, and maintenance requirements.
- Supporting compliance with relevant British Standards and insurer requirements.
- Liaising with specialist contractors where required for major remedial works.
General Responsibilities
- Complete service reports, inspection records, and certification accurately.
- Maintain excellent communication with clients, residents, and colleagues.
- Work safely and professionally at all times.
- Provide technical support and mentoring to junior engineers.
- Represent AFT Group positively on client sites.
- Keep up to date with evolving legislation, standards, and industry best practice.

- Full UK Driving Licence.
Preferred Experience & Qualifications
Whilst not essential, the following would be advantageous:
- Minimum 3 years' experience within the fire protection industry.
- Experience servicing fire alarm systems.
- Experience testing emergency lighting systems.
- Experience inspecting and servicing sprinkler systems.
- FIA qualifications.
- ECS / CSCS Card.
- IPAF.
- City & Guilds qualifications.
- Manufacturer-specific training and certifications.
