General Manager Heysham Golf Club
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a commercially aware, experienced General Manager to lead the day-to-day operations of a successful Golf Club that was awarded Lancashire Club of the year in 2025, and was a finalist in the England Golf Club of the year awards in 2026.
Heysham Golf Club, founded in 1910, is a challenging parkland course next to the historic Heysham village and close to the seaside town of Morecambe. The Club offers a high-quality golf experience for members and visitors with scope to further grow both its hospitality and golf income. Fostering relationships with the local community is important to us, along with promoting health and wellbeing.
We are seeking an experienced General Manager, responsible for all day-to-day operations of the golf club, assisting the Directors to achieve our strategic goals, developing and delivering excellent service standards to both members and visitors, whilst providing strong team leadership
We will provide the successful applicant with a varied role supporting golf operations and business development and the opportunity to:
· Develop a clear leadership role within a successful member’s golf club with responsibility for staff and facilities management
· Shape and support the delivery of the recently agreed 5-year strategic plan
· Deliver financial growth across all areas of the club
· Shape and develop the hospitality offering to members, visitors and community groups

This role would suit an experienced Golf or other Club/Venue Manager looking for a challenging, but rewarding leadership position.
The Role
As General Manager you will take responsibility for the overall management and performance of the Club, ensuring members and guests receive a consistently high-quality experience.
You will play a key role in maintaining high levels of member satisfaction, while also supporting growth in visitor play, events and overall club revenue.
You will lead the operational team, oversee events and functions, and ensure the Club runs efficiently, professionally and in line with its values and traditions.
Key Responsibilities
Responsible for the day-to-day management of the club, ensuring the club is well managed and legally compliant
Responsible for long term financial planning and management
Responsible for managing all heads of service, ensuring they work to agreed standards of performance and KPI’s
Develop and implement effective marketing strategies to maximise revenue
Support the Board to achieve its aim of increasing member satisfaction and retention.
Ensure visitors have an excellent experience and are keen to return.
About You
We are looking for a professional, organised and commercially aware manager who thrives in a hospitality-led environment.
Experience and qualifications
Extensive experience in a leadership role, preferably though not necessarily within a golf club
Strong track record of P&L management, budget setting and cost control
Hold a CMAE, GMCA or relevant degree in sports management/ business or have relevant proven experience
Required Knowledge and Skills
Understanding of Health and Safety, Licencing, HR/employment law and safeguarding
Ability to develop and execute marketing strategies to drive both membership recruitment and visitor revenue
Ability to take a long-term vision and translate it into daily tasks and measurable KPI’s
A natural people person who is visible, approachable and is able to build rapport with members and visitors of all backgrounds
Skilled in all aspects of managing staff to ensure the effective running of the business
Experience of IT, management systems, and accounting software e.g. SAGE, Xero
Desirable knowledge and skills
Knowledge of golf operating and IT systems e.g. IG/BRS
Able to use online platforms for effective communication
